Introduction
CalmWave ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a native iOS application designed to help working professionals manage stress and turbulent mental states through binaural beats, guided breathing, yoga practices, and acupressure. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what rights you have in relation to it.
By creating an account and using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
Why an Account is Required
CalmWave requires you to create a personal account because the core experience of the App is personalized to you. Your account enables us to:
- Store your mood logs so the App can track emotional patterns and recommend appropriate therapies and binaural tunes.
- Unlock personalized content (Binaural Tune Card and Guided Exercise Card) based on your recorded emotional state.
- Maintain your playlists, favorites, and content history across sessions and devices.
- Manage your subscription status and access privileges.
Without an account, personalized, mood-aware features cannot function. Your data is stored securely and is never sold to third parties.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not collect your real name unless you voluntarily provide it.
Mood Data: When you log your mood (Very Unpleasant, Unpleasant, Neutral, Pleasant, or Very Pleasant), the timestamp and your selection are stored. This data is the foundation of the App's recommendation engine.
Usage and Content Data: We collect information about the binaural beat tracks and guided exercises you access, save to favorites, or add to playlists, in order to improve recommendations and personalize your experience.
Subscription Information: We receive confirmation from Apple's App Store when a subscription is purchased, renewed, or cancelled. We do not receive or store your payment card details; all payment processing is handled entirely by Apple.
Device Information: We may collect non-identifying device details (operating system version, app version) for the purpose of debugging and improving app stability.
We do NOT collect:
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your contacts, microphone audio, or camera data.
- Health or biometric data from Apple HealthKit.
- Any data from minors — the App is intended for working professionals aged 18 and above.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate and provide the core features of the App, including mood-based content recommendations.
- To manage your account, authenticate your identity, and maintain your session securely.
- To manage your subscription and validate access to premium content.
- To improve app performance, fix bugs, and enhance the user experience based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
- To send important service communications (e.g., account-related notifications). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
Data Storage and Security
All user data — including mood logs, playlists, favorites, and account credentials — is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud backend platform that uses industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Supabase complies with SOC 2 Type II standards. We enforce row-level security policies to ensure that each user can only access their own data.
While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We strive to protect your personal data but cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:

We do not use any advertising networks, cross-app tracking, or data brokers. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Subscription and Billing
CalmWave offers auto-renewable subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store infrastructure. We do not directly process or store any payment information. Subscription management, billing, and refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their purchase policies. To cancel a subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active, or as necessary to provide you with the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate data.
- The right to request deletion of your account and associated data.
- The right to withdraw consent for optional data processing.
